Something funny happens when you start a blog. After a little while, you start an internal dialogue to your blog. You start to think about things in terms of how they would look in a photo or essay, and you get a wee bit manic about photographing everything.
Something funny also happens when you stop blogging so much. The internal dialogue stills, the photos become less and less, you start to realise that you are actually living moments, rather than documenting them....
What I want is some kind of middle ground - I began this blog as a way to document the process of making things, and now it has become something else......
So I'm easing myself in with some photographs. Because in this long, long hiatus of mine, the only thing that has been constant is the pictures.
These photographs are from my latest, and most satisfying iPhone app - Instagram - it's a phone and a feed all in one, so if you're a sucker for an app, you can follow me - I'm hyenainpetticoats on there as well.....
I figure if the pictures come first, the words will follow.

steal away, my love. I stole it from somewhere too, I can't remember where though. Lovely to see you back around here a bit more.
I can very much relate to the issue of 'living v. documenting'. I have pulled back a fair bit in terms of content and take breaks willy-nilly when it all starts to do my head in. I find it pertinent to remember that the only people who are going to give a shit about my blog in twenty years are my kids. That in itself is liberating.

Well who needs words when the pics are so good...
This blog thing is a bit like looking in the mirror - the person looking back at me isn't the one in my mind...
That is a really good idea. I know what you mean - I was really on a roll with my blog, and then I overwhelmed myself trying to get too many things uploaded (from a trip). I have hardly written anything new since November, even though I have been busier than ever with new things (moved cities, countries, jobs, and taken on many projects)!
I am glad you are getting back in the water. I think it is just about time for me too.
Good luck. We're rooting for you!
Hope
living is better than blogging!
Unless you are bored at work :)
Then blogging is divine
