*update: the link in this post no longer works because the item was removed by Ebay after an army of bloggers sent letters of complaint! Thanks so much to everyone who was indignant on my behalf - your responses were more than I had ever expected - just goes to show you don't mess with blogland! xxxxx*
Tonight, whilst looking at vintage quilts on Ebay, I found THIS scam seller using one of my images to sell:
"links to great websites that give full & detailed how-to insturctions to construct this beautiful quilt design!"
(spelling mistakes courtesy of the seller)
Included in the listing are more photos from the Cathedral Window Flickr group. And I'm betting the links list included in the price (a massive 99 cents) includes my Cathedral Window pattern.
What a loser. Ripping off other artists to make a measly 99 cents? Jesus.
If anyone feels like complaining to the seller, or spamming their account, or whatever, you have my full blessing.
I'm working on my own diatribe as we speak.
If anyone wants to access my pattern for free, the link is over there on the sidebar. Cheers.

oh. my . god.
people are jerks.
Sorry for the jerks on internet.
Can’t you warn Ebay about this?
$ 0,99 WOW, he/she is making BIG money!
at the very bottom of the auction page you can click on "Report this item" and then select "Copying of your listing" and under that "Someone copied text or pictures from another web site or ebay user", maybe with enough reports ebay will cancel the listing, hope this helps :)
That is just awful. Makes me so mad to think people just go around taking stuff. And think, if just 50 people decide to "buy" what they sell, the lister has made $50...for something that's not even theirs. Just ridiculous!
Wow that us unbelievable I can not believe some people
Go with Jen, report them - How rude. If you are a memeber of ebay - go to live help - much quicker !
Done my bit Leah, I reported them :)
pff ripping people off for $.99. losers
What a JERK! I reported them too! Come everyone...they need to hear from all of us.
You are not alone...she/he stole from here too http://www.quiltmag.com/proj-tips-cathedral.php I thought I recognized this picture!
unbelievable.
Gee people can be such wankers. How annoying. But seriously who would pay .99cents for links to websites? Have they not heard of google? I have always been a little afraid of the internet for this very reason, as we all really have no idea where our photos/art etc may end up.
it sucks all right!!!
All the pictures are have copywrite issues they are my montage of group photo heyenas photos and debbie http://www.quilterbydesign.com/lessons/cathedral/cathedral_windows.html
photos so it is debbie tutorial being used more than likely and heyens
http://hyena-in-petticoats.blogspot.com/2007/08/cathedral-window-quilt-tutorial.html
and probably mine for my mock cathedral windows.

how awful is this?! so much good comes from the internet....but oh so much crap comes right along with it! and for $.99??? ridiculous!
this is a beautiful pattern! i will have to try it. you are amazing for letting people make this for free. THANK YOU!
Wrote a Letter of Complaint about this seller to Ebay, immediately, citing 2500 reasons why the seller should be terminated immediately.
Of course, they'll only set up afresh and keep going, but may at least think twice before using your stuff.
Bummer, Leah, people can be such fuckheads. Parasites are everwhere.
And I was in such a rage I didn't even check my spelling.
And just how many times does a girl need to use the word, 'immediately' anyway?
x
UNBELIEVABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought I heard it all but this tops the cake!! Karma craft will get them!
WOW that is shocking!!!
Gosh I'm totally with you Leah, what horrible scamsters. Good on you for exposing!
Lies
Are you kidding? Why on earth would anyone spend money on something they can look up for free, anyway?????
Hey, I linked to your pincushion tutorial because I blogged about pincushions today. But I'm going back to edit it and change the link to your new blog. I'll direct people to find the tutorial on your side bar! I think that might be the right way to do it, rather than a direct link to the tutorial? Sometimes, blog etiquette is confusing.(I looked up 'pincushion tutorials' and didn't have to pay 99 cents for it, LOL!)
bloody hell!
karma is indeed bound to come back at them...
What a complete dick! Agree with others, what idiots out there would pay 99c for links to sites you can google!!?? Hope it resolves quickly!
I just got my response from eBay I forwarded it to you they are going to do nothing because the pictures didn't come from something on eBay they don't care.
Unbelievable! This world makes me so mad sometimes! Lazy! Thieving! Copycats! Argh.
Its unbelieveable the depths to which some will sink to make a dollar!! I'm a firm believer in 'what goes around comes around' I'm sure they'll get what is coming to them.
I was totally inspired to try a Catherdral Window quilt after seeing yours, and want to thank you for your great instructions. I'm having trouble with the link in my post for some reason, but I will make sure to direct them to you.
This is exactly the sort of thing I am encountering on a weekly basis via Mikes. Lots of crafters ripping off other crafters. Lots of people stepping on other people. Lots of people driven by the dollar and craft fame. I'm jack of the whole thing!
It's actually not a minority that are doing this sort of thing. A lot of people are doing it.
So let's us - the MINORITY - be good crafters and do our best. Thank the people you should thank. Be kind on your way up. Deal with people with compassion and understanding. Don't copy other peoples patterns for commercial gain. Don't copy other people - but learn from them.
And if someone pisses you off - be sure to write them a really eloquent email telling them why!
ebay removed it after all
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270218238681
yeah we won
mongrels! Good to see that eBay removed it though!
As someone else said - Karma will get them!
The language you people use is appalling
My Granddaughter and I were looking for some new quilt ideas and stumbled across your site
Let'sjust say we are not returning!
So 'anonymous' how far down the comments page did you get before you were offended by the language!
Well done Leah for allerting us to dickheads like this.
I am sorry if any thing I have said might have offended any one that is not the type of person I am so if I said something wrong I am truly sorry.
Hi there 'Anonymous'!
I'm sorry that you were offended by the language used on my blog, but as this is MY blog, I will not apologise that the language was used in the first place.....
In the profile box at the top of the page, it says that I am a 'badmouthed bartender'. Perhaps that should have alerted you to the possibility that you may be offended.
I am sorely dissapointed that you seem unable to appreciate a great quilt pattern, just because its author uses language you wouldn't. So yes, I am sorry. Sorry for you. In my world, tolerance goes both ways.
Cheers,
Leah xxxx
Yea! So glad ebay removed the listing. It still blows my mind that people would have the nerve to sell what they did the way they did! (by the way, did anyone click on the quilt images while it was still up? Let's just say it didn't link to the quilts pictued, it led to a more interesting listing....guess there's a reason I don't shop e-bay very much)
As far as the anonymous comment. I'm sorry they were offended, but like you said, they should have had an inkling from reading your profile. As for me? I'll defintely be back :cD
My goodness I don't check in on you for a few days and WW3 has broken out!
Scams, bad language, complaints and I've missed it all;-)
As many of your comments have already said there are a lot of awful people in this world....only this morning I was sent the Trojan virus via a comment....
In my opinion there is far more to be offended by than a few F's and B's.....I said bugger on my blog recently and the earth didn't stop rotating...
Oh my lord! What the bejeezus is going on with the universe at the moment?! Everyone's in a most shirty, ungrateful, sensitive mood! Fantastic news about the listing removal Leah! They won't f*%k with you again, will they?!
Goodness! I hope anonymous realises there is a lot more vileness out in internet-land than a bit of blue language by a few crafters!
